Leibniz Data Manager

A CKAN Distribution for Research Data Management by TIB and Leibniz University of Hannover

An important topic that drives the development process within the TIB is the demand to provide suitable services for sustainable research data management. In 2016, the FORCE 11 group introduced a new set of principles for these types of RDM services: to be FAIR – Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable. The main objective of the FAIR Data Principles is the optimal preparation of research data for man and machine.

The Leibniz Data Manager is a CKAN distribution tailored for Research Data Managment and was developed to support the aspect of better re-usability of research data. The LDM supports management and access to heterogeneous research data publications and assists researchers in the selection of relevant data sets for their respective disciplines: https://service.tib.eu/ldmservice/

The Leibniz Data Manager currently offers the following functions for the visualization of research data:

  • Supports data collections and publications with different formats
  • Different views on the same data set (2D and 3D support)
  • Visualization of Auto CAD files
  • Jupyter Notes for demonstrating live code
  • RDF Description of data collections

The LDM software is based on the web-based data catalog software CKAN (Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network).
